Andrew's first attempt at building a
wood surfboard resulted in this
beautiful 5'6" Fast Lucy.
Andrew used locally purchased
cedar and redwood for the skin
and cut balsa sticks from WSS into
strips to lay up the rails.
He then made the twin keel fins to
complete the retro look and feel.
A very sweet fish!
This Fast Lucy was built from a mahogany door frame that was destined for the land fill. The redwood pin line and balsa rails accent the mahogany perfectly.

WSS team rider Cache Tucker cranks some turns, gets some air and even sneaks 5 over the nose. This was his first time on a Fast Lucy and he had no trouble getting used to the board.

ALL EXPORT KITS ARE SHIPPED USING US PRIORITY MAIL AND USUALLY DELIVERED IN 6 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS
|
An export kit is the same as a regular domestic kit except the ribs
and spar sections are cut from the backing material so they fit a
1-meter long package that can be sent anywhere in the world.
The cuts are made at non-critical spots and the pieces are coded so
that matching the pieces is easy. Also included is some extra wood
to reinforce the joints. The manual shows exactly how to do it and its
emailed as soon as the order is processed so you can start planning
while the kit is on its way.
The basic kits consist of the ribs and spar pieces that make up the
surfboard frame. It also includes a full instruction manual that covers
every step of the build in detail. The PDF manual is emailed to you
when you order.
You will need wood for the outside planking as well as glue,
fiberglass and shop supplies like sandpaper. You can buy or build a
fin to be glassed on or mounted in a fin box.
The kit is delivered
"model airplane" style.
You punch out the
ribs and assemble the
precision interlocking
pieces into a frame
like the one shown
here.

Three more questions we get a lot......
|
Question: "Do I get everything I need to
build a board in the kit?"
Answer: In the basic kit - no, in the
complete kit - yes. The basic kit is the
frame and instructions and you'll need to
buy wood, fiberglass, a fin, etc. locally.
We put all that stuff into the complete kit.
Plus the wood in the complete kit is balsa
and paulownia so the board will be light.
You'll just need glue and tools.
Question: "How do I know what size board
to get?"
Answer: You pick the board size and
shape the same way you'd pick a foam
board. They float and perform the same.
Question: "What if I need some advice or
have questions during the build?"
Answer: The Ebook that comes with the
kit will take you step by step through the
build - its got tons of photos and info. Also
you can contact us either by phone or
email.
