SOLID BRASS VENT
NEW IMPROVED DESIGN
These vents are solid brass
with a sealing O-Ring.  The
vent screw is simply raised a
few turns to allow the board to
vent. The knurled thumbscrew
also has a slot that can be
operated with a coin.
Solid corrosion-resistant brass.  The vent screw is drilled instead of
notched so it has the maximum thread sealing surface.  More threads
means a better water seal.  Click the link below to see the installation
instructions for these vents.  Like all our vents, you don't need to
completely remove the screw and chance losing it.  Simply raise it a
few turns to expose the vent hole. Requires a 9/16" mounting hole

HOW TO CHOOSE AND INSTALL THE PROPER VENT
  • Plastic vents work well on both new installations as well as retrofits.
It requires a 5/8" hole to be drilled so if you are replacing a
previously installed vent chances are you will just have to open up
    the existing hole a little.
  • Plastic vents have a shoulder that means you can apply more epoxy
to get a good seal to the board.  The shoulder also means you won't
see a hole that isn't drilled quite perfectly.
  • Plastic vents don't vent quite as quickly as the brass vents because
the opening is not quite as big.
  • Brass vents look very classy installed on a wood board.
  • Brass vent installation requires greater precision than the plastic
vents but the smaller head is less noticeable.
PLASTIC VENT FEATURES
BRASS VENT FEATURES
  • We recommend the vent be placed in the nose of the board. This way you will see
it and will remember to close it.

  • Placing the vent in the tail area means it will be under water when you are sitting
between waves.  Give it a break and keep it high and dry in the nose.

  • Recessing the vent as shown on the right means you will be less likely to step on or
    snag something on it.
